A sick person usually does not have good appetite. However, food served to the patient in an attractive manner can help stimulate his or her appetite. How can this be done? The following are some guidelines:
1. Use a tray large enough to hold the food and easy to handle and carry.
2. Use clean dishes placed on attractive placemats with colorful napkins. A flower in a small vase or on the tray will make the tray more attractive and pleasing to the patient.
3. Serve hot foods not and cold foods cold.
4. Serve only small portions of food. Whenever possible, try to serve foor the patients like.
Remove used dishes and trays from the room as soon as the patient has finished eating.
