Hospitalization: The feeling of a patient

"Health is very important. I should have relaxed and have given time for myself. Now, I pay the price and it's detrimental"

These words of regrets were uttered by my sister, Arleen who said that it is really hurtful to suffer from a serious pain of her disease. These lines always kept on repeating on my mind which I take note to share them. My sister is suffering from Acute Pyelonephritis which she battled to face.

She was sharing me her sorrows and frustrations every time we chat online. She was like embarking on a long vacatin and coming back as that forwarding bringing bad news that even shocked her. She even didn't experct the outburst of her disease for she is used to be an energetic, active and happy person. Now, she looks lifeless and always in silence.

I initially make the move to ease her "depression" as I alwyas give uplifting messages for her not to mind that deep pain. I am positive that she is determined to strive, to bring back the actibe glow of her health. Medicines can help as much as words of comfort for her to be okay.

The lessons that she shared points out these things that when one is suffering form much pain due to a certain disease, one should:

1. Not lose hope.
The moment my sister knew that she is suffering from a serious disease, there are signs that she's always saying uplifting words like - "I will be okay.", "I can get over this trial.", "I will not lose hope."

These give me the strength that she is aware of gaining positive outlook and determination in spite of her sufferance.

2. Take time to relax
My sister is a very workaholic person. That is probably the cause why she is having a health problem. She is always on-the-go in submissions and deadlines. She is a teacher. The lesson plans, unit plans and preparations are everyday tasks that she opting to accomplish. With non-stop activities and appointments, these for sure, retires the vigor of my sister. She realized to pause for some times and take a deep breath in seeing the beauty of nature, of life than by imprisoning oneself to the classroom and paper works.

3. Eat the right kind of food and do exercise.
My sister used to miss or skip meals. She oftentimes too, eat the kind of food which can be bought on the streets. She used to eat unhealthy food and the kind of busy life she has make her forget to donate extra time to exercise.

She realized that it is better that before, she should not compromise eating nutritous food because she can afford to buy them. She has all the money to buy those healthy food and she can afford to pay for the gym.

4. Pray to God.
The only sole upliftment that my sister finds peace is the reliance and prayer that He seeks in God. She admits that she was far to God in those times that she is busy with work and in those times that money seems to reach quickly in her hands. She believes that God is reminding her to seek His presence and pray to Him for help and guidance.

Yes, the world is not statically withine one's grasp. My sister, Arleen is somewhat abusing herself and has taken for granted the wonderful things that she should enjoy. There is alwyas the chance that she will be called to the tide of realization, to pause, think and breath life in a slow and enjoyable pace.

One couldn't afford to lose life. And my sister Arleen is taking every moment now of her life, bringing those realizations in great lessons for life.
