Mother's Wants in a Teacher

As mother, I want the best for my kid. As he is growing, I want him to learn many things in school. I believe that with the help of the teachers, he can fully develop his skills while he is growing, as the same time learning.

What I want in a teacher (and most parents do want too) is a kind of a teacher who has a deep knowledge on the subject matter. He must know more than what is given in the textbook. I believe that the more he is able to present the subject in a stimulating way if he is equipped and has a wide know-how of his lesson.

Educators are the ones who find hidden laws of the growing mind and them shapes them. I want a teacher who understands the child's total growth and development. He must know the child's habits, interests, skills, abilities and of course, his knowledge. He must have the power to apply psychology to the learning situations in many ways.

A teacher who knows the most effective methods and techniques are the ones I also want in a teacher. He must set up goals that will stimulate each child to make the ultimate use of his capabilities and potentialities. He must be able to adjust his methods to meet the child's individual differences. He ust have to select the best teaching method so that there will be retention manifested in the long-term memory of every child. He must plan his work carefully because he is the one responsible for rapid progress of every learner.

Teacher's patience, sympathy and love for the children are very important for me as mother. The trust we, mothers give to the teachers relies us that the teacher must take care of our children as we, mothers do take care of them very much. In him, there should be love for childhood, a sympathy with its interest, a spirit that can enter heartily and sincerely into its joys and sorrows. He must place himself in the child's place, to see things as they really are. I do believe that children love people who are sympathetic and who can understand them. Teachers' love for children must be innate and not pretending nor fake.

Teachers are born, not made as what they said but a good teacher brings out everything in a child's development.

I want my son, David will prosper and be happy in school. I want a teacher who could also help bring out the best in him.
